Power flushing allows a strong flow of fresh water to pass through the central heating system, removing unwanted dirt and debris under controlled conditions.

What happens during a power flush?

The power flushing unit is connected to the heating circuit where the system pump, boiler or radiator is usually situated. We can now flush your central heating system thoroughly of debris.

Suppose you carry out regular servicing and maintenance by qualified engineers. In that case, a preventative Power flush should only be required every 5-6 years to clear debris and prevent significant blockages from taking hold.

However, this will vary depending on the system you have. For example, some boilers use copper heat exchangers rather than stainless steel, which will corrode more quickly.

Therefore, we always advise that if you plan to replace your old boiler, you request that the engineer perform a Power flush before the new boiler installation. Otherwise, you risk contaminating the new boiler with damaging sludge and debris in the old pipework.
